Overview

The first aid scenario training (FAST) course is only for delegates who have previously held a full 3-day First Aid at Work certificate and require a confidence building scenario day with the inclusion of suspension trauma and airways with suction.
Course Content
Delegates will be able to understand, and where relevant, apply, the following skills when helping an adult in the workplace who:
•Dealing with an emergency
•Assessing a casualty, monitoring a casualty, where to get help, electrical
•incidents, emotional support
•Unresponsive and breathing adult recap
•Unresponsive and not breathing adult recap
•OP Airways and suction
•Suspension trauma
•Accident recording and reporting, including awareness of LOR forms and processes as detailed in toolbox activities LO2 & LO3
•Scenario practice using bespoke toolbox activities (LO1) to build confidence in managing an incident,

To include:
•Shock,
•Severe bleeding of all varieties,
•Crush injuries,
•Spinal injuries including a physical practice of the log roll,
•Broken bones,
•Burns (including electrical).
Upon successfully completing the course, delegates will be awarded a certificate, which will be valid for one year.
Continuous assessment by observation, practical and questioning.

Who should attend?

The first aid scenario training (FAST) course is for delegates who already hold a first aid at work certificate.

Course Prerequisites

This certificate is only valid where the named person has previously held a full 3-day First Aid at Work certificate; any certificate issued without this prior training will be invalid.

Delegates must be able to carry out the practical elements from the course outline and be competent at CPR.
