Overview

This course is for those who work in or around a confined space and will prepare them to work safely when entering and exiting, using equipment and tools and dealing with emergencies by following procedures. This course would also be beneficial to managers or supervisors of operatives who are working in a medium risk confined space.
Course Content
At the end of the course, delegates will have an understanding of:
•Legislation and standards
•Hazard identification and risk assessment
•Roles and responsibilities
•Safe systems of work
•Equipment and personal protective equipment (PPE).
Delegates who achieve their assessment will receive their City & Guilds Level 2 certificate, which will be valid for three years.
Delegates will take part in hands-on practical exercises in entry and monitoring procedures, and simulated emergency response and rescue procedures.

The assessment will include a short answer question paper assessment and practical observation.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Who should attend?

This course is essential for those working in a confined space where access risks are present and escape breathing apparatus must be taken in. Delegates will learn how to use the equipment and tools safely, how to recognise an emergency and how to deal with it.

Course Prerequisites

Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

Entering and working in confined spaces may be strenuous and demanding. Delegates should be physically fit and in good health and should generally not have problems with eyesight, hearing heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, fear of heights/confined spaces, vertigo, difficult with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
