Overview

The IPAF Harness User and Inspection course focuses on the safe use and inspection of harnesses when working at height, particularly with powered access equipment. This course will equip you with the knowledge you need to confidently select, use and inspect a harness for working at height activities.
Course Content
At the end of the course, delegates will have an understanding of:
•Health and safety and working at height regulations
•Types of harnesses
•Proper use of harnesses
•Hierarchy of fall protection measures
•Pre-use checks
•Usage and anchor points
•Inspection procedures
•Safe working practices
•Storage and servicing
Delegates who achieve this course will receive a IPAF certificate, which will be valid for five years.

Delegates will also have access to the IPAF ePAL app where their certificate is stored.
Training delivered through a combination of classroom-based tutorials and practical instruction.

The assessment is a multiple-choice theory assessment and a practical fitting and assembly assessment and will be undertaken under test conditions.
To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Please note that if a hardcopy PAL card/certificate is required, it must be arranged prior to the course start date, which will include an additional charge.

Who should attend?

The IPAF Harness Use and Inspection course is intended for operators of powered access equipment, site supervisors and managers. It is designed for anyone who may be required to wear and inspect harnesses while working at height.

Course Prerequisites

Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

The training has practical elements, so delegates must inform their trainer if they have any serious health issues, physical problems, special considerations or are taking any medication, which may create difficulties in any elements of this course. In addition, delegates should also bring suitable PPE on the day of training, for example; safety helmets, safety shoes or boots, hi-vis and gloves.
