Overview

This course will give you the knowledge and skills to implement and lead a team in; pre-entry procedures, entry and exit from a confined space, communications, and initiation and control of emergency procedures. This course will teach delegates to understand the systems, equipment and protocol they need to perform their work safely. There is a particular focus on duty of care for the team under their control and aligning with industry standards and regulations.
Course Content
At the end of the course, delegates will have an understanding of:
•Legislation and standards
•Hazard identification and risk assessment
•Planning for entry
•Control measures and equipment
•Emergency preparedness.
Delegates who achieve their assessment will receive their City & Guilds Level 2 certificate, which will be valid for three years.
Delegates will take part in hands-on practical exercises in controlled entry procedures and safety measures and simulated scenarios in emergency response and decision-making.

The assessment will include a short answer question paper assessment and practical observation.
This course also covers medium risk entry with the safe use of escape sets.

To remain certified in this area, you will need to retake the course before the expiry date.

Who should attend?

This course is for an entry controller or top-person who controls entry and arrangements for confined spaces without entering them. It includes the duties of an entry controller, pre-entry procedures, entry into and exit from the confined space, maintaining communications and initiating and controlling emergency procedures.

Course Prerequisites

Delegates must have a good understanding of spoken and written English.

In order to undertake this course delegates must be clean shaven to ensure there is no obstruction to the face fit mask required for practical assessment.

Entering and working in confined spaces may be strenuous and demanding. Delegates should be physically fit and in good health and should generally not have problems with eyesight, hearing heart disease, high blood pressure, asthma, epilepsy, fear of heights/confined spaces, vertigo, difficult with balance, impaired limb function, alcohol or drug dependence or psychiatric illness.
