NPORS

NPORS training courses offer flexibility, whilst maintaining standards, both nationally and internationally by working with industry and accredited training providers.

Overview

The National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS), established in 1992, works across the Construction, Industrial, Utilities, Warehousing and Distribution, Agricultural, Ports and Marine sectors.

NPORS are now a CSCS partner card scheme which is open to operators working in any industry. The scheme supports the training and testing of lift truck operators, mobile plant operators and users of powered work equipment.

Why choose NPORS?

  • Safety: NPORS cards demonstrate that you have the knowledge and skills to operate plant machinery safely, which helps to keep you and your colleagues safe at work.
  • Recognition: NPORS is a widely recognized accreditation body in the UK and worldwide.
  • Flexibility: NPORS testing can be done on-site, which can be more flexible
  • CV: NPORS cards can be used as a copy of your CV, and businesses can see the training and modules you’ve taken.
  • Relocation: If you relocate to another country, businesses can see the training and modules you’ve taken and use that information when hiring you.

The NPORS Traditional Operator Card is for those who operate in industry sectors other than construction and therefore not subject to the requirement to hold an operator card bearing the CSCS logo.

Though the standards applied to this route and the methods of achievement are exactly the same as those applied to the NPORS CSCS Operator card route, the NPORS traditional card does not bear the CSCS logo.

The NPORS Traditional Operator cardholders have the option to select three or five year registrations for this card dependent on any sector specific or in-company requirements.

Do I need CSCS card if I have an NPORS card?

A worker does not need a separate CSCS card if they hold an NPORS card, unless their job requires them to. To apply for a trained operator NPORS card, neither a CSCS card nor an NVQ is required.
